Description

Monet’s admiration for Japanese culture was prominent in every aspect of his life, from the works of Japanese artists filling the walls of his home in Giverny to the bridges, irises and lilies from Japan enriching his garden. The work he best reflected his admiration for the Japanese culture is ‘La Japonaise’, in which he painted his wife, Camille Monet, in a kimono surrounded with folding fans.
